Dubai Shopping Festival comes in January/February, is truly a duty free paradise. It attracts a large number of tourists including rich and famous from all over the world. Hotels are often full, advance booking is advised .

Souk is the Arabic name for market and the best bargains are generally in the souks. Always remember to haggle, asking for lower price will often result in discounts. Prices in the malls and other Western shops tend not to be negotiable.
